Statement on vandalism attack in our Pune office
IFFCO Tokio General Insurance Company Limited Clarification
On 6th November, 2019, at around 10.30 AM, a mob of 40-50 people entered our Pune office at Koregaon Park. They started shouting crop insurance and started vandalizing our office breaking the glass panels, office furniture, computers, laptops etc. They did not discuss their grievance or issues at all. IFFCO Tokio General Insurance Company Limited has not been enrolled for crop insurance (PMFBY scheme) in Maharashtra for the current year Kharif and Rabi 2019 season. Based on tenders, the various districts of Maharashtra have been allotted to other insurance companies for 2019.
IFFCO Tokio General Insurance Company Limited had participated in the scheme in Kharif season 2018 and paid a claim of Rs.549.08 Crores to over 10.19 Lakh farmers. The claim amounts had been released to all eligible farmers in their respective bank account as per the operational guidelines of PMFBY scheme.
“We are still at a loss to understand the reason or grievances of the agitators for vandalising our office, when we are not involved in implementing the crop insurance program in Maharashtra for this year”, said a company spokesperson.
IFFCO Tokio General Insurance Company Limited has always been a farmer friendly company especially with regard to implementing the PMFBY scheme. IFFCO Tokio has been successfully implementing the PMFBY scheme in the allotted districts over the years with full compliance of the operational guidelines as laid down by the Government.
