What is the Ayushman Bharat Health Account - ABHA (Health ID) Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID is an initiative of the National Health Authority of India. It is a unique 14 digit Identity Number that can be generated by an individual using his Aadhaar Number or Mobile Number without any cost and without sharing Aadhaar details with any private agency. It has an aim to make the healthcare ecosystem more centralised and convenient. The 14- digit unique number which is linked to the ABHA digital health ID enables easy access to all the medical records, prescriptions, diagnoses and health history.

Benefits of an ABHA ID:

• It provides a hassle-free method of accessing and storing health records like tests, diagnoses, medicine prescriptions, etc., digitally.

• Enables Individuals to share medical records easily with hospitals, clinics, doctors, etc. Thus, you can get medical care even in new localities

• Link all healthcare benefits ranging from public health programmes to insurance schemes to your unique ABHA number

• The Health ID cards give a platform that is strongly secured and encrypted. User consent is required every time his/her PHR is being accessed

• This card is valid in AYUSH treatment facilities too. Treatments include Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.

How to create ABHA ID:

Registering for the ABHA and generating the 14-digit unique identity number is a seamless and quick process which can be completed in a few clicks! The user is required to fill out all the relevant information, authenticate his mobile number and verify Aadhaar Card. 

If you choose to complete the process using your Driving License, then you need to obtain an enrollment number from the ABDM portal and thereafter visit the nearest ABHA facility to verify your license before generating the ABHA Health ID Card.
